"Rethinking Renaissance Sexualities"
Call for Papers--RSA 2004 I'm putting together a panel for next year's RSA on "Rethinking Renaissance Sexualities," which I think may be of interest to scholars on the list. Here's the official description: Pioneering work in the theory and history of sexuality (by Foucault, Sedgwick, Bray and others) has opened up a rich discussion in Renaissance studies, but it has also created interpretive dead ends: essentialism vs. constructivism, identities vs. acts, etc. This panel seeks to offer analysis that moves the conversation forward and opens up new ways of thinking about Renaissance sexualities (both homo- and hetero). Papers from all approaches (theoretical, historical, literary) are welcome. Abstract Deadline: May 1, 2003 Please send abstracts (preferably by e-mail), no longer than 150 words, to:
